When I moved from northern Illinois to Oklahoma City last year, I left my family behind for quite a few months. This was a song I wrote for my wife, Alena, during a difficult time in our lives while I was living in an apartment off of Mustang Road in Yukon, Oklahoma.
lyrics
We've been apart for weeks now and i say I'm doing fine
The grass is growing greener and the sun's up in the sky
The weather is much warmer, and my pay is better, too
but I just can't help but feeling like it's wasted without you
On Mustang Road, the blacktop's made of gold
The birds are always singing and it's almost never cold
On Mustang Road, I always get to bed on time
The kids are never under foot, and water tastes like wine
On Mustang Road, there'll always be something to do
but I'll never be with you on Mustang Road
I left on an adventure, and you think I'm feeling great
You've heard of the excitement of a new and better state
There's never a dull moment, and everyone's my friend
The journey's just beginning but I wish that it would end
On Mustang Road, the driver's always yield
The ladies are all lovely, and crickets fill the fields
On Mustang Road, the stores are open late
The postman smiles, the rent is low, you trust the hand of fate
On Mustang Road, all jars are filled with honey,
the gas is just a buck or so, and the hoboes give YOU money
On Mustang Road, there'll always be something to love
but you're all I'm thinking of on Mustang Road

This woman can play some serious folk guitar and she has sultry singing skills. It's hard not to get drawn in. She also loves liberty as much as you do, if not more. Edmund Snyder
I've been following Colette on Soundcloud for some time. I fell in love with her style the first time I heard it. Sometimes her voice reminds me of Carole King, but without King's arrogance. Edmund Snyder
I discovered Dr. Mindflip through the Weeklybeats challenge that I'm doing (to write a song each week). His fantastic vocal range and amazing piano chops have drawn me back to his music every week. Edmund Snyder
